Chilli Hot Knife II Twin Tech Surfboard

Chilli Surfboards presents the HKII. Seamlessly up- dating the much-loved Hot Knife, the HKII becomes a well-rounded, step down shortboard. This board is incredibly user-friendly and exhibits forgiveness across all types of conditions. With the outline still providing the rail to rail transitions with ease, the HKII boasts speed and control.

Outline
The HKII features a classic, slightly fuller shortboard outline in the front. We removed the hip through the fins, creating a more fluid ride rail to rail. This facilitates the straighter rail along the tail, enhancing speed, while a nice pulled in swallow tail allows for tight transitions when the section presents itself.

Rocker Profile
Continuing from the Hot Knife, the HK2 has a moder- ately flat entry rocker, transitioning into a smooth exit. The boards primary focus is maintaining its speed over flat sections while also allowing for tight transitions.

Contours
Continuing with the Hot Knife contours, the HK2 has
a single through the nose into a double through the feet, that blends into a vee through the tail. This com- bo creates a fast board of the take-off that has a super forgiving feeling rail-to-rail and control while you finish your turns.

About this board:

Construction: Twin Tech Epoxy (Read more below)
Glassing:
4oz x 4oz Deck 4oz Innegra Bottom

Tail shape: Swallow Tail

About Twin Tech Construction:

Twin Tech is Chilli’s latest construction consisting of a stringer-less 36 gram EPS core and Chilli’s own designed ‘Twin Carbon’ fibre tape. Bottom: Single layer of 4oz fibreglass (featuring Chilli’s signature line by Colan Australia), Twin Carbon tape plus individual FCS II plug patches. Deck: 1 x layer of 4oz fiberglass, 1 x layer of 220 gram biaxial cloth, Twin Carbon tape plus a V-Tail patch.Twin Tech offers a performance orientated flex pattern that’s designed to simulate a traditional stringer surfboard but with an Epoxy/EPS ‘new board feeling’ every surf. Most of the strength comes from the ‘Twin Carbon’ strategically running up the centre of the deck and bottom. This creates a strong flex pattern that accentuates speed and produces that ‘pop and liveliness’ but with an underlying feeling of predictability. Tried and tested with Chilli’s team of all ages and sizes, this construction feels lightweight, balanced and perfect to ride.

About Chilli Surfboards:

The founding owner of Chilli Surfboards, Jamie Cheal, did his first top turn on a surfboard at the Gold Coast's Greenmount aged 13, and he's been surfing most days since.

In his late teens, Cheal moved to Sydney and started working at a surfboard factory, sanding and sweeping for next to nothing. In 1995, aged 22, Cheal shaped his first board. When he eventually took his creation to water he was more than a little surprised; It actually worked! "It was a total fluke," he laughs. "I shaped about 20 more after that first one and they all went like wet towels."

Cheal knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park, but with that first gem in mind, he persevered with shaping and not long afterwards, it started to pay off. Two years later, Chilli Surfboards was born in a small factory in Brookvale.

In the years that followed, demand for Cheal's boards grew and each week he produced more. Soon, demand was high and some of Australia's best surfers were riding Chilli Surfboards to victory. It wasn't long before World Tour surfers started asking Cheal for boards, too. In 2004, the dearly missed Andy Irons rode Chilli Surfboards in his successful campaign to claim a third world title.

Cheal loves seeing the best surfers in the world ride his boards but would take just as much pride in seeing one under your feet. That's why he's worked hard to create a model range that has something for everyone. Check them out on this site and find your next dream board.
